CONSULTANCY: Pablo Colella advises on ACE, Creative United and Common Vision community research project.

Over the course of 2021, Disconnected Bodies founder and Lead Practitioner, Pablo Colella, provided audience engagement insights to the Arts Council England, Creative United, Common Vision joint R&D project: Learning Through The Pandemic.

The project captured the engagement innovation that took place during COVID-19 restrictions to ensure everyone working across creativity and culture can learn from it. ACE commissioned Common Vision and Creative United to speak with cultural practitioners and share community engagement and participation best practice from the first two years of the pandemic.

It was during these conversations, gathered over a series of online focus groups, that Pablo guided questioning based upon his understanding of audience engagement and his past research work into ‘A Quarantine Audience’.

Later this year, ACE will publish a playbook which includes top-tips, case studies and consideration points based, in part, upon the insights provided by Pablo.

A wealth of resources are available on the Learning Through the Pandemic page on the ACE website. Resources include –

  • Connecting communities through arts and culture
  • Outdoor community cultural engagement
  • Approaching online engagement
  • Keeping people feeling connected and supported online
  • Creating art in and with communities
  • Developing safe and accessible online cultural opportunities
