Disconnected Bodies supports Letchworth Garden City Heritage Foundation.
The Letchworth Garden City Heritage Foundation is a charitable organisation responsible for the stewardship and management of Letchworth Garden City, the world’s first garden city, located in Hertfordshire, England. The foundation’s role is to preserve and promote the unique character of Letchworth, originally designed by Ebenezer Howard in the early 20th century as part of the Garden City movement.
As part of their work The Foundation developed a cultural strategy to enhance and promote the cultural life of the community while preserving the town’s heritage and values. The strategy focuses on fostering creativity, engagement, and participation across various cultural sectors.
Disconnected Bodies were commissioned to support on an Arts Council England funding bid to reach the city’s Sikh, Hong Kongnese and Sri Lanken residents. With this National Lottery Project Grant funding The Foundation can –
- Develop inclusive cultural programming that ensures everyone in the community has access to artistic and cultural activities, regardless of age, ability, or background.
- Enhance public spaces with art installations, performances, and creative events to ensure that culture is integrated into everyday life in Letchworth.
- Encourage community participation in cultural activities by offering events, workshops, and festivals that are engaging and accessible to all.
- Build partnerships with local schools, charities, and organisations to foster a sense of cultural pride and identity within the community.
Disconnected Bodies are a leading voice in cultural audience engagement, known for tackling industry gate-keeping and amplifying underrepresented voices.
